At CatRock, we are committed to providing youth with transformative experiences that enable them to build a personal connection to the outdoors, a commitment to environmental stewardship, and a dedication to making a difference in their own communities.

Our donors’ support is critical to ensuring that CatRock is able to bring our mission to life. Through the generosity of our board members, we were able to launch the the Double Your Impact Fall Fundraiser last October that matched every donation up to $50,000. We are thrilled to report that we raised $150,000! We are so grateful to the board members, individuals, and corporations who made the CatRock Double Your Impact Fall 2020 Fundraising Campaign our most successful one yet.

“We would like to thank everyone who contributed this year,” says Craig Meisner, CatRock co-founder and executive director. “This was our most successful fundraising campaign ever in terms of funds raised for a single campaign. It speaks volumes about people coming together to serve kids in the Bronx, especially during this pandemic year.”

While the pandemic made 2020 a challenging year for all, the CatRock team rose to the occasion with innovative programming that brought the nonprofit’s mission to life. Instead of CatRock’s regular schedule of outdoor trips, trainings, and activities, the CatRock management team and volunteers kept the students engaged through two-months of ambitious virtual programming. Once spring came, Craig, volunteers, and the students headed outdoors for park and garden stewardship projects. Over the summer and fall, the CatRock students decided to embark on making reusable masks after witnessing PPE littering their Bronx parks and neighborhoods. The student-led CatRock Mask Project has now resulted in the CatRock Adventure Store launched in February 2021. All in-person activities were conducted following Covid safety protocols including wearing masks and social distancing.

As CatRock moves forward in 2021, we are busy recruiting a new student class for our Leadership Academy, advising our college bound students, and planning more Covid-safe programming. Of course, we look forward to returning outdoors when the spring comes. Like everyone, we anticipate the time when Covid is behind us, but until then, we will continue to engage our students in meaningful and safe endeavors and experiences.

Again, we thank everyone who contributed to the CatRock Double Your Impact Fall 2020 Fundraising Campaign. We couldn’t have done it with your deeply generous support.
